Nicholas Bayard Genealogy

Nicholas Bayard,1 son of Nicholas Bayard and Elizabeth Rynders, married Catharine Livingston, daughter of Peter Van Brugh Livingston, who married 1739, Mary, eldest daughter of James Alexander, member of Council and Surveyor General of Province of New Jersey; who married Marion, widow of Samuel Prevost and daughter of John Spratt, of Wigton, Galloway; who married August 26, 1638, Mary, widow of Paulius Schrick and daughter of Johannes de Peyster and Cornelia Lubberts, a relative of the de la Noys.

Philip Van Brugh Livingston, born 1710, was son of Philip Livingston, born Albany, N. Y., 1686, second Lord of the Manor, and Catharine Van Brugh, daughter of Peter Van Brugh and Sarah Cuyler; and Philip Livingston was son of Robert Livingston2, first Lord of Manor, and Alida Schuyler, daughter of Philip Peterse Schuyler and Margaretta Van Schlechtenhorst Robert Livingston, who came to America in 1674, was son of John Livingston, a Scotch clergyman, born 1654, of Roxburgshire, of the family of Livingstons of Callendar.

Nicholas Bayard and Catherine Livingston had:

  •  Mary (or Maria) Bayard, married Hon. William Houstoun, of Georgia.

  •  Ann Livingston Bayard, married 1798, Dr. Nicholas Serl Bayard, of New Jersey, and had:

    • Nicholas James Bayard, which see.

  •  Eliza Bayard, married John Houstoun McIntosh (died 1848, son of George McIntosh3, who married 1772, Ann Priscilla, daughter of Sir Patrick Houstoun, Baronet), and had:

    • John Houstoun McIntosh, married first, Mary Randolph Higbee; second, Charlotte N. Higbee.

    • George McIntosh, Minister to France from Texas. He married first, a daughter of James Hamilton, of New York; married second, Miss Salvador, of Paris, France.
      Catharine Ann McIntosh, married Henry R. Sadler.

    • Eliza Bayard McIntosh, married General Duncan Lamond Clinch, of Edgecombe County, N. C., born 1798 and died in Macon, Ga., Nov. 29, 1849: son of Joseph Clinch by a daughter of Colonel Duncan Lamond (or Lamont) of Revolutionary War. (Wheeler's Reminiscences).

  •  Katherine Ann Bayard, married Robert Chas. Johnson. V. Margaret Sarah Bayard, married Gerard Rutgers.

  1. New York Genealogical Record puts him down as baptized Nov 14. 1736.

  2. Had grant of Manor, 1686.

  3. George McIntosh, fourth son of John More McIntosh, who arrived in Georgia in 1733, was of McIntosh of Borlum branch.
