1. Pieter Janszen Haring, born 8, 13, 1664, is first noted in New York when his marriage in the Dutch Church there is recorded on p. 63 as follows: Pieter Janszen Haring, young man of New York, residing in Tappan, married in New Harlem, December 4, 1687, Grietje (Margaret) Bogaerts (Bogert), a young woman of Bedford. He was probably a sea-faring man, as his children are baptized in different towns, namely: In New York, Grietje, 1688; in Tappan, Pietertje, 1696, Jenneke, 1698, Jan Pieterse, 1700, Catharine, 1702, Abraham, 1704; in New York, Elbert, 1706; in Hackensack, Tunis, 1708 and Claesie, 1711. The History of Harlem credits him with twelve children, p. 448, and the History of Rockland County, N. Y., p. 199, in its Census of 1702, states he had one male child and five females.

2. Grietje (Margaret) Haring, daughter of Pieter Janszen and Grietje (Bogert) Haring, was baptized in the Dutch church, New York City, October 7, 1688 (p. 187), and was betrothed on September 25, 1708, at Tappan, N. Y., to Claes (Nicholas) Van Houten, who was born in "Ahasamas," N. J., 7th mo., 12th d., 1685. The marriage took place October 7, 1708, in the presence of her father and Daniel de Klarck, Elders of the church in Tappan.
