Roswell Parish Genealogy

ROSWELL4 PARISH (William,3 William,2 John1), was born in Windham, Conn., 2 Oct. 1752. He served in Capt. Gallup's company, 10th Continental regiment. He was at New York from 16 Apr. 1776 to the close of the year, taking part in the Battle of Long Island 27 Aug. Corporal at the disbandment of the regiment 31 Dec. 1776. Served in the 1st regiment, Continental Line, formation of 1777-81, Jedidiah Huntington colonel, being discharged 4 Jan. 1778, term one year. He saw further service in Capt. Robinson's company, Col. McLellan's regiment, arriving in camp 13 July 1778 with William and Oliver Parish. Children, both born in Preston, Conn.:

  1. ROSWELL, b. 18 Dec. 1779; m. 21 Jan. 1801, AMANDA TRACY, b. in Preston 12 Oct. 1779, dau. of Edward.

  2. POLLY, b. 17 Aug. 1782.
