Jacob Bailey Genealogy

Jacob⁶ Bailey, Jr., and Johns Bailey, of Newbury, Vt, who married respectively Mary Ladd and Hannah Ladd, sisters of Abiah (Ladd) Young, were the sons of Gen. Jacob⁵ Bailey, the leading grantee and settler of Newbury, Vt., in 1763-4; who married Prudence Noyes, of Newbury, Mass., a descendant from Nicholas Noyes, the emigrant settler, Newbury, Mass., 1635. She was the great-grandaughter of Bathsheba (Ingersoll) Knight, before mentioned in the history of Jonathan Haines. Gen. Jacobs Bailey descended from Joshua⁴, Isaac³, of Newbury, Mass., and John², John¹, of Salisbury and Newbury, settlers in 1635. John I and John 2. Jr., were townsmen with Daniel Ladd in Salisbury. They removed to Newbury, Mass., about the same time that Ladd removed to Haverhill; and it happened that John Bayly, Jr, and Daniel Ladd had each three children born to them in Salisbury, which were recorded in the same quaint style prevailing at that very early period.

2. TIMOTHY BAILEY, June 30, 1784, m. Phebe Woodward, settled is Rutland and Springfield, Mass.
3. EZEKIEL, LADD BAILEY, b. June 12, 1786, m. Elethear Ruggles of Rutland, Vt., settled in Rutland.
4. JACOB NOYES BAILEY, b. June 18, 1788, m. 1st, Lucy Young, and m. 2d, Polly Thrall, settled in Rutland, Vt.
5. RUTH LADD BAILEY, b. April 28, 1790, m. Jeremiah Nourse.
6. MOODY B. BAILEY, b. Dec. 15, 1792, settled in St. Lawrence County N. Y.
7. WILLIAM WALLACE BAILEY, b. Oct 29, 1794, m. 1st, Caroline Parkhill, m. 2d, Betsy Butman, of an ancient family of Salem, Mass.
8. MARY BAILEY, b. Oct. 20, 1796, m. 1st, Daniel Rennels, m. ad, Moody Chamberlain.
