(11 ) IV. JESSE SMITH [17-3] b. March 6, 1793, d. 1833; graduated at Dartmouth College in the year 1814, Professor of Anatomy and Surgery at the Medical College, Cincinnati, Ohio, from Oct. 1820, to July 1833, died 1833, a victim to his professional zeal and ability, during the prevalence of the cholera, after fourteen hours' sickness. An eminent physician and surgeon. See his character, Note I. Morison's centennial address.

April 22, 1822, he m. Eliza Bailey, daughter of Jonathan Bailey of Charlestown, Mass. Her second husband is John Wright of Cincinnati.
