1. Henry Hoffman was born in Rotterdam, Holland, and married
Eliza Weeks, born in Falmouth, England. They emigrated to New York City before
1840 and died in Brooklyn, N.Y., he on August 17, 1871, aged 73 years, and she
on May 1, aged 70 years.
Issue: Jane, Joseph, George B., and Edward, a Civil War veteran, living in
2. George Bartlett Hoffman, son of Henry and Eliza (Weeks) Hoffman, was born in
New York City, October 22, 1840, in the home of his parents on Roosevelt Street,
corner of Cherry Street. He died December 1, 1882. On May 23, 1861, he married,
in New York, Emma Teresa Cronk, born February
13, 1844, died April 23, 1918. They are buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery,
Brooklyn, N. Y.
His gravestone shows that he served in the Civil War in Company F, 9th Regt.,
Hawkins Zouaves, New York Volunteers.
Issue: Edith A.; Emma, married Louis Burke De Veau, and Minnie Lenora.
3. Minnie Lenora Hoffman, daughter of George Bartlett and Emma Teresa (Cronk)
Hoffman, was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., September 3, 1866, and married in Calvary
Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, N. Y., December 28, 1886, John Schmieg, born in New
York City, April 20, 1863, son of Carl Schmieg, born in Heidelberg, Germany,
died in New York City, March 6, 1890, aged 63 years, and his wife Margareta
Roegner, born in Neiderholm, Germany, died in New York City, November 24, 1892,
aged 65 years, daughter of Jacob Adam Roegner. They are buried in Cypress Hills
Cemetery, Brooklyn, N. Y.
John Schmieg and his wife reside in Larchmont Manor, N. Y., he being in business
in New York City.
4. Florence Bell Schmieg, daughter of John and Minnie Lenora (Hoffman) Schmieg,
was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., November 21, 1887, and married in All Angels
Episcopal Church, New York City, January 10, 1910, Stanley Spartan Tumbridge,
born in Brooklyn, N. Y., January 28, 1879, son of William and Lucinda (Ficke)
Tumbridge. They have two daughters, Helen and Dorothy Tunbridge.
