Samuel Ladd Genealogy

SAMUEL2 LADD (Daniel1), born Nov. 1, 1649, married Dec. 1, 2674, Martha, daughter of George Corliss. He lived in the west parish, and it is said that "his house stood where the present West Parish Church stands." He was a farmer, and lived and labored under the same disadvantages that his father did in cultivating and making use of his land. He died Feb. 22, 1698, was killed by the Indians while returning from one of these distant places with his friend, Jonathan Haines. As this story has been already told, it is not necessary to repeat it here in full.

  2. LYDIA, b. Sept. 25, 1679, d. 1684.
  3. SAMUEL, b. May 22, 1652, m. Hannah Hartshorn.
  4. NATHANIEL, b. Sept. 9, 1684, m. Abigail Bodwell, removed to Norwich, now Franklin, Connecticut.
  5. EZEKIEL, b. Feb. 14, 1686, m. Jemima Foster, removed to Stratham, New Hampshire.
  6. DAVID, April 13, 2689, m. Hephzibah Hazen.
  7. JONATHAN, April 13, 1689, m. Susanna Kingsbury, of Norwich, Conn.; settled in Norwich, and d. in Tolland, Ct.
  8. ABIGAIL, Sept 29, 2691, m. Samuel Roberts.
  9. JOHN, June 22, 1694, m. Mary Merrill.
  10. JOSEPH, b. May 16, 1697, d. y.

Of these children, none of them had married when their father was killed; the most of them were quite young.
