Steel Smith Genealogy

Son of Thomas and Mary, born September 20, 1729. Married Lois (Spooner) probably, prior to 1750. Date and place undetermined. She was born in 1731, place unknown. He died in Windsor, Vt., April 5, 1812. She died in Windsor, Vt., Jan. 27, 1792. He married 2d wife about 1796, Mrs. Elizabeth (Andrews) Curtis, a native of Simsbury, Conn. She was previously married Mch. 19, 1776, to Capt. Israel Curtis, who died in the Revolutionary War, May 19, 1776. She administered the Estate of her husband. She died at Windsor, Vt. April 19, 1825. Aged 86 years. She was the mother of General Zebina Curtis, and grandmother of Ex-Governor Carlos Coolidge of Vermont.

Hulda Smith, born July 8, 1750; died Aug. 4, 1750;

Roswell Smith, born Oct. 19, 17.4;

Asahel Smith, born 1757;

Ebenezer Smith. Born in Farmington, Conn., 1758. Baptized (as of record), 1759. Died (presumably) in 1838. NOTE: Records are indefinite. One Ebenezer Smith married Hannah Currier at Williamstown, Vt., Sept. 9, 1817 (as per Town Record). No other information verifiable.

Reuben Smith. Born in Farmington, Conn. Feby. 28, 1761. Died at Windsor, Vt., Jan. 12, 1838. Married Martha. Date and place unknown. She died at Windsor, Vt., Sept. 14, 1831. (He was deacon of the Baptist Church in Windsor, Vt., 34 years.) No children known.

Samuel Smith, born July 2, 1765

Hart Smith, born in Windsor, Vt., in 1868. Died March 5, 1853. Married Wealthy Huine, of Windsor, Vt., Jan. 1, 1793. She died Feb. 26, 1845. (Marriage record is from Royalton, Vt.) He resided much of his life in Windsor; was a deacon of the church and leader of the choir. No children have been found of record.
