Samuel Jones Genealogy

Samuel2 Jones (Hugh1) of Salem, Massachusetts. Second son of Hugh, was born in Salem, Massachusetts, April 30, 1672 and removed to Woburn. 1694. where he passed the rest of his life as a farmer. He died in 1753, over eighty years of age. He married, 1695, Abigail, born April 4, 1677, daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Wilson) Snow, of Woburn. His will, dated October 18. 1733, probated December 24, 1753, names his wife, Abigail: daughter Abigail; sons Samuel, Ebenezer, Jonathan and son Joshua, who received the homestead and was residuary legatee and executor. They had five children.

1. Samuel, born November 19. 1696; died April 3. 1769. Married, May 23. 1722. Susanna, daughter of Capt. Edward and Sarah (Walker) Johnson of Woburn.
2. Ebenezer, born June 18, 1699. Married first, November 18, 1719, Elizabeth Dale of Woburn. Married second, July 13, 1746, Phebe Endecott of Boxford.
3. Jonathan, born July 26. 1702, died May 24, 1753. Married August 7, 1721, Elizabeth, born June 21, 1690, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Palmer) Russell (a descendant of Edward Russell, the emigrant) of Woburn.
4. Abigail, born June 6. 1708; died September 26, 1778. Married January 2, 1723, Lieut. William, born October 25, 1700, son of Nathaniel and Bathsheba (Wyman) Tay of Woburn, where he died December 8, 1750. They had eleven children.
5. Joshua, born January 31, 1711. Inherited his father's homestead in Woburn, where he resided during his long life; accumulated a considerable estate; and was prominent in town affairs, holding the office of Selectman twelve years. He died January 28, 1790. Married April 26, 1737, Abigail, born April 14. 1716, daughter of Ephraim and Grace Waters of Woburn. She died May 17, 1809. They had no children.
