Samuel Parish Genealogy

SAMUEL² PARISH  (John¹), probably born in Mendon, Mass., apparently followed closely in the footsteps of his father, for in 1698-9 and 1700 his name appears in the church records at Essex, Mass., then Chebacco Parish, and later, after his father went to Stonington, Conn., he was admitted an inhabitant of Norwich, Conn., in 1716. On 18 Apr. 1719, and again on 28 Apr. 1719, he bought land there, situated on the west side of the Quinnebaug River, and made it the homestead. In a quitclaim deed after his death, his children Joel, Solomon, Nathaniel, and Mary Parish relinquished this same tract to "our Brother Samuel Parish," 9 June 1735, the others, Nehemiah and Rececca, not being of age at that date. He died in May 1735, but the date of his marriage to MARY (???) is not known. Children:

6. NEHEMIAH, b. in Norwich 1715; m. 1737, RUTH GREEN, who d. 26 Dec. 1754.

7. REBECCA, b. in Norwich 1718.
