Josiah Jones Genealogy

Josiah6 Jones (Josiah5 Josiah4 Lieut. Jonathan3 Samuel2 Hugh1) of Johnson, Vermont. He was born June 28, 1779 in Londonderry, New Hampshire; emigrated to Johnson about the year 1801, when it was just a wilderness. There he was deeded land in 1805 and built a house on the river road (now standing) at the age of 33 years. He died in Hyde Park May 5, 1844 and was one of the first to be buried in Johnson village. He served in the war of 1812 at the battle of Plattsburg. under Capt. Thomas Waterman, September 11, 1814 (Johnson History). He married first, October 19, 1797, Jenney Boys of Londonderry, New Hampshire, born 1776, she died in Johnson March 26, 1816. He married second. June 13, 1816, Betsey Crowell of Johnson, born 1765, and died March 8, 1872. They had fifteen children.

3. Judith, born February 19, 1805 in Johnson, Vermont, died August 13, 1883. Married first, William Boyce, born 1804, died January 6, 1855. Married second, Lemuel Blake, February 10, 1863, born 1797, died March 11, 1869.
4. Sarah, born April 21, 1806 in Johnson, Vermont, died December 7, 1901. Married first Tuttle, 1827. Married second, George Maxfield.
5. Jesse, born April 11, 1808 in Johnson, Vermont, died April 24, 1890 in Hyde Park. He married Martha French, born June 15, 1814, died July 10, 1872.
6. Mary, born March 2, 1810, died July 10, 1896. Married Nathaniel Alger in 1831, died in 1882. They lived in the west. (No further record)
7. Eunice, born 1812 in Johnson, died August 5, 1870. Married Samuel Green, 1840.
8. Ida, born about 1814, died young.
9. Betsey, born March 2, 1816 in Johnson. died March 1. 1902. Married Alexander Slicer February 1. 1836, born January 10, 1813, died June 15, 1905.
