ROSWELL5 PARISH (Lemuel,4 Samuel,3 Samuel,2 John1), born in Canterbury, Conn., 18 Oct. 1759, died there 6 Sept. 1807. He married first MEHITABLE MELODY HARRIS (? of Ipswich), who died 10 Apr. 1790; and secondly, 1 Nov. 1791, LUCY HARRIS, who died 18 May 1813, daughter of Reuben and Lucy (Lamphere). He served four days in Capt. John Kingsley's company of Windham at the Lexington alarm, Apr. 1775. He also served in Capt. Benjamin Bacon's company, 21st regiment, John Douglass colonel, and took part in the operations around New York and in the Battle of White Plains, 28 Oct. 1776. Children by first wife:

  1. ERASTUS, b. 18 July 1783; d. in Providence, R. I., 26 Sept. 1847, aged 65; m. ANNIS ELDREDGE.

  2. MEHITABLE, b. 7 Sept. 1784; m. WILLIAM BRADFORD, b. 28 Sept. 1783.

  3. JOHN RILEY, b. 6 Oct. 1786; m. (???) OLMSTEAD; removed to Columbus, Ohio.

  4. SOPHIA.

  6. ROSWELL, b. 1 Apr. 1795; d. 4 Feb. 1865; m. 11 Oct. 1822, DESIRE SMITH, b. 10 Oct. 1803, d. 22 Sept. 1896, seventh in descent from Richard of Smithtown, L. I.

  7. JULIA, b. 28 Mar. 1797; d. 13 Oct. 1833.

  8. HORATIO NELSON, b. 1798; d. 1799.

  9. LUCY, b. 7 Jan. 1801; d. 14 Oct. 1837; m. 3 Sept. 1824, JEDEDIAH REED.
